She assists her clients live from their inner ‘sparkle’, experience real clarity and a renewed excitement for life that enables them to create and live their joy-filled, purposeful, abundant lives.
Fiona’s own life has not been an easy one and here she shares an excerpt of her inspiring story about how she realized she was living an ‘unlived’ life, and how she moved from believing her old ‘victim’ stories to a place where she now feels wholly alive and on purpose.
Fiona shares her story…
‘YES, I am alive and more importantly I FEEL alive… I am following my joy, passion and life’s purpose for the first time in my life. Instead of ‘being Victim taker’ I am the ‘Choice Maker’ in my life.
My Spiritual and personal awakening began when I was held hostage for 5 months in Baghdad in the lead up to the first gulf war.
Horribly shaken by this experience, I returned to my old life not recognizing the gift of life I had been given. In 2003, while working as a Director of Nursing in a major Riyadh hospital, Al Qaeda detonated 3 bombs targeting westerners, designed to create maximum devastation and loss of life. 35 colleagues died at the scene. During a 60-hour marathon, I led our hospital ER and OR teams to save the lives of the 145 wounded brought to our emergency room. Once again, the universe waved a red flag signaling ‘Attention Fiona’. I ignored this invitation to cross the bridge of my own spiritual awakening, evolution and transformation.
Guy Fawkes Night November 2005, I witnessed the stabbing of my best friend.
I intervened between her and her attacker, wrestling the knife off him enabling her to escape. She was stabbed 31 times. She survived. Although my actions that night probably saved her life, 8 weeks later I had my 5th miscarriage in 2 years and my partner walked out of our life for good.
I guess you could say this was the straw that broke the camel’s back! My life fell apart. Days and nights were filled with unremitting pain, anger, rejection, abandonment, betrayal and sadness. I felt empty and alone. Slowly over time I began to confront my own woundedness and I recognised that my true self is not a victim, I am not broken. I do not need to be fixed. And the quieter and more still I became, the more I realized that my mental and emotional health, my wisdom and wellbeing were untouched by my life circumstances and personal history, and all I experienced in my life was in service of my awakening, learning and growth.
Suddenly the world became an arena of possibility, potential and purpose.
As I woke up to the dream of my habitual negative thinking, suddenly the world became an arena of possibility, potential and purpose. What I began to notice is that whatever problems life threw at me, I was able to embrace and solve with a semblance of grace, dignity, a sense of fun and a quiet inner knowing that all is OK.
Now I find that I am living and working from my best self the majority of the time, I am in touch with my inner wisdom and compassion, I experience unconditional loving kindness, hope, light, peace, joy and happiness. You could say I am living from my inner Sparkle!
What have I learned from my journey that might be of use to you? Well… I have learned 3 little (but huge) things about life. One, is the absolute miracle of our existence; two, is that our emotional and mental health, our wisdom and wellbeing, our essence, our ‘sparkle’ is innate and is always within us, it is just sometimes we get disconnected from it; three, when you understand how your mind works and the nature of thought and thinking, you live in a different world. Nothing changes, but everything is different. Life stops being so scary and the world stops seeming like a problem to be solved. Instead you live from a place of quiet peace and joyful wellbeing, creative passion, creating and living your most wonderful life.
